Renovation and conversion of a 200 year old farm house in Nagano into a villa-type hotel. We restored a traditional thatch peasant home while applying modern techniques to improve livability and functionality. Using only natural materials such as local woods, stucco and earth wall, and reconstructing the roof with the help of the only remaining thatching craftsman in the region, we have given the house another 200 years of life.

在长野县上田市的近郊、有个预计已经有200年历史的日本地方的老茅屋民居、这次的项目是把老茅屋重修成郊外别墅酒店。利用当地的木材、涂料和土墙等自然要素、和当地少数的茅屋工匠一起修缮屋顶、继承活用村里的建筑技术、加上隔热、防潮处理、结构的补强等、使得功能和性能上有所提高。我们想通过创造出符合现代化生活的空间、使这个建筑能再继续使用200年。
